Israel—28 February 2011—For cruise ships, the provision of potable drinking water during long cruises is an ongoing concern. Most ships store water in tanks, purchasing fresh supplies when they get into port.
To enable the provision of fresh drinking water at sea, Mano Maritime Ltd. has selected Nirosoft to install reverse osmosis units for the desalination of seawater in one of the company’s cruise ships. The systems have an output of 4,000 and 8,000 lit/hr.
The treatment process includes pre-filtration, chemical pre-treatment, 5 micron cartridge filtration, RO desalination, re-hardening, and chemical post-treatment. Nirosoft’s team will be installing the systems during the off season, when the ships are berthed at Haifa port, and will be ready for operation when the cruises resume in April 2011.
